Sharon G. Flake is the author of The Skin I'm In
(the 1999 Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe Award for New Authors
winner) and Money Hungry (a 2002 Coretta
Scott King Honor book). Ms. Flake is a former youth counselor
for the Center for the Assessment and Treatment of Youth in
Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where she lives. Questions for Sharon?

Chris Crutcher

Chris Crutcher grew up in Cascade, Idaho, and now lives in
Spokane, Washington. His writings draw on his experiences
as an athlete, teacher, family therapist, and child protection
specialist. He is the critically acclaimed author of six novels
and a collection of short stories for teenagers, all chosen
as ALA Best Books. In 2000, he was awarded the American Library
Association's Margaret A. Edwards Award, honoring his lifetime
contribution in writing for teens. Learn

Christopher Paul Curtis

Christopher Paul Curtis is the author of The Watsons
Go to Birmingham--1963 (a Newbery Honor and a Coretta
Scott King Honor book) and Bud, Not Buddy
(winner of the 2000 Newbery Medal and the Coretta Scott King
Author Award). Christopher Paul Curtis grew up in Flint, Michigan.
After high school he began working on the assembly line at
the Fisher Body Flint Plant No. 1 while attending the Flint
branch of the University of Michigan. Today he is a full-time

Sharon Creech

Sharon Creech is the Newbery Medal-winning author
of Walk Two Moons. Her other novels include
The Wanderer, a Newbery Honor Book, Bloomability,
Absolutely Normal Chaos, Chasing
Redbird, and Pleasing The Ghost.
She has also written two picture books, A Fine, Fine
School and Fishing In The Air. After
spending eighteen years teaching and writing in Europe, Sharon
Creech and her husband have returned to the United States
