Mary Pope Osborne is the author of many acclaimed books for young people.
Her books include The Magic Tree House series, The Brave Little Seamstress
and New York's Bravest. A world traveler, she splits her time between
an apartment in Greenwich Village, a cabin in Pennsylvania and a home
overlooking a lake in Connecticut which she shares with her husband
and occasional co-author, Will Osborne and their faithful terrier, Bailey.

Paulsen is a master storyteller who has written more than 175 books
and some 200 articles and short stories for children and adults. He
is one of the most important writers of young adult literature today
and three of his novels - Hatchet, Dogsong, and The Winter Room - were
Newbery Honor Books. A youthful summer of rigorous chores on a farm;
jobs as an engineer, construction worker, ranch hand, truck driver,
and sailor; and two rounds of the 1,180-mile Alaskan dog sled race,
the Iditarod; have provided ample material from which he creates his
powerful stories. Gary Paulsen joins us from his boat, as he sails the
Pacific Ocean - alone!
Jacqueline Woodson

Jacqueline Woodson, the author of Locomotion, Hush, Miracle's Boys,
and I Hadn't Meant to Tell You This lives in Brooklyn, New York. She
is a recipient of the Coretta Scott King Award and was a recent finalist
for the National Book Award for Young People's Literature. A former
drama therapist for runaways and homeless children, she now writes full
time. Though she spends most of her time writing, she also enjoys reading
the works of emerging writers, encouraging young people to write, heated
political conversations with her friends, and sewing.

Avi's most recent book Crispin, won the Newbery Award. He is well known
to his readers for two very different books, both Newbery Honor Award
winners, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and Nothing But the
Truth. Avi was born in 1937 in Brooklyn, New York. He is married and
has sons. He has written mystery, adventure, fantasy and ghost stories.
One message he extends to all readers is, "Listen and watch the
world around you. Try to understand why things happen. Don't be satisfied
with answers others give you. Don't assume that because everyone believes
a thing it is right or wrong. Reason things out for yourself. Work to
get answers on your own. Understand why you believe things. Finally,
write what you honestly feel, then learn from the criticism that will
always come your way."
