Become a Virtual Member How does it work? 1. Register on the SRC bulletin board When you first visit the bulletin board you'll be asked to register a nickname and password. Once you are registered, go to the Summer Reading folder and introduce yourself to the rest of the program by telling us your first name, age, and what your summer reading goals are. Every week we'll be totalling the number of pages read... so come back often and post! Once you are registered you can post messages in the virtual summer reading program. Download a reading log here. When you finish a book; write down the author and title in the log. Books read by parents or caregivers to younger children count, but remember to only list titles once. 3. Post book reviews Post your book reviews. If you are reading a book that's not on this summer's list post the review here in the bulletin board. 4. SASE When you reach your reading goal, send us a self-addressed stamped envelope [be sure to add a .60 cent stamp] and we'll send you a certificate and a small award. Limited to one award per student (per summer, of course). Your letters should be postmarked by August 31, 2003, and sent to the following address: The New York Public Library There will be many events throughout the summer at your local branch of The New York Public Library. If you don't know where your local library is, or haven't met the librarian there, let us know! We'd be happy to introduce you. If you register for the Summer Reading Program in person at a local library be sure and ask about the end of summer celebration. |
